Borrow

Our lending facilities are free of charge if you are an Avans student or staff member .

You can easily borrow books and other materials with our lending machine. First scan your digital student card or employee card from the Avans One app on your smartphone.This is available in a download for Android and for Apple iOS.

Next, scan the bar codes of the materials you want to borrow.

Students can borrow a maximum of ten materials at the same time. The limit for lecturers and staff members is twenty items.

Renew

You can easily renew your loan in Kaluga. Log in with your Avans credentials. You can almost always renew it, unless when there is a reservation on the book.

• At the top right of Kaluga, click Sign in
• Log in with your Avans email address and password
• Left click on your name in the top right corner
• Choose Library Card
• Click on the loans with the option to renew 

Return

Want to return your borrowed materials? Please deposit them in the opening of the return bin next to the lending machine. Rest assured: we will do the administrative processing for you.

The lending period is four weeks. You will receive an email reminder two days before the end of the lending period.

If you haven't returned your items, you will receive an invoice after four weeks, for the administrative fee (€ 15) and the standard amount of € 40 per book. You can no longer borrow from us until the materials have been returned or this invoice has been paid.

Reserve

Only if an item is out on loan, you can make a reservation. Make a reservation in Kaluga with your digital student card.

You will be notified as soon as your reserved item is available.

Reservations are put on the shelf by name, and you can take them with you immediately, without scanning. We keep them aside for you for ten days.

Requests

You can demand for books from other Xplora locations free of any charge. Students and teachers can request a maximum of five books at a time by filling in this form on ServicePunt.

Also you can order almost anything from libraries in the Netherlands. Such a request costs € 2.50. Please ask our information officer or via xplora@avans.nl about the possibilities.

Responsability

By using the Xplora lending facilities you declare that you are aware of and agree to our terms. For using our facilities the general Avans House rules apply.

You are not permitted to make notes in books. If you damage or lose any materials you will be charged a standard fee per item (€ 40) and an administration fee (€ 15). Pay online or in Xplora with your debit card.

Your card is strictly for your own use. As a lender you are held responsible for the use of your card and for the materials registered on it. If you lose your card you must therefore immediately inform xplora@avans.nl and the Avans Service Line (088 - 525 88 88) to prevent misuse. Your card will then be blocked.

Privacy

We will not pass on any details of materials loaned to third parties except in the case of serious negligence.
