The Dutch National Student Survey (NSS) is back. This large-scale survey of students’ satisfaction with their study programme will be launched in the week of 17 January. Once again, the questionnaire is short, easy to complete on a smartphone, and privacy proof. Covid-19 restrictions are still having an impact on education, so Avans is also asking specific questions about students’ experiences of distance learning. 

Last year, the NSS launched a new questionnaire, which students helped to prepare. That questionnaire remains unchanged, apart from a few details. The participation of universities of applied sciences is mandatory. As all higher education institutions are taking part in the survey, it is possible to compare the perceived quality of study programmes. That helps future students in their choice of study programme and gives Avans University of Applied Sciences an insight into areas for improvement. 

The results of the NSS 2022 will be published on the Studiekeuze123 website at the end of May. Furthermore, they are an important factor in the annual rankings of Elsevier magazine and Keuzegids hbo (guide to higher professional education), in which Avans has occupied top position for many years.

Your voice counts

Avans University of Applied Sciences attaches great importance to giving students a voice through the survey. A high level of participation will make the data more representative and therefore more valuable to study programmes in terms of measuring their performance. In November and December we have been asking students what they think of the Avans Ambition 2025 statement. The questions in the NSS complete the picture.
