Kaluga gets a new look

Kaluga, Avans' search engine for books and databases, will look slightly different from June 24th. The search engine works largely the same, but the new search screen may take some getting used to. To avoid as much inconvenience as possible, we plan the transition shortly before the summer holidays.

What changes, what stays the same?

In many cases, the new Kaluga also shows covers of publications. That makes the search overview a lot more attractive.

The separate Avans catalogue will disappear: our e-books, books and magazines are now just as easy to find in Kaluga.

The Avans search engine also searches the contents of many of our databases. Unfortunately still not all databases! This was also the case with the old version. You will therefore still find an overview of databases by discipline, so that you can visit them separately along that route. If a database is included in Kaluga, this is stated in these overviews.

Temporary inconvenience

Behind the scenes the whole library system changes. The system was outdated. That meant choosing a new supplier. Quite an operation, most of which will be done on June 24th.

The transition means that it is not possible to borrow materials yourself with the loan machine between 22 and 25 June. You cannot reserve anything yourself during that week too.
